This presentation will outline a four-step approach to the ex ante assessment of green infrastructure for the provision of services, or contracting for infrastructure, of interest to municipalities or regions. A case study of the provision of hydrological services in the Panama Canal watershed will be used to highlight each step and identify the key pieces of information required for a full assessment of green infrastructure feasibility.
Ecosystem services and biodiversity (ESB) markets are a novel approach to achieve conservation and environmental goals. ESB markets provide new business opportunities or income streams, for example, agricultural producers could sell improved water quality, or pollination services.
